Blood Tests

An appointment with a GP is required before all blood tests to ensure that the appropriate tests are arranged. This is standard best practice as recommended by the  Irish Medical Council.

If you have attended a hospital consultant who has requested blood tests these can also be arranged if you have a signed letter/ blood test request form specifically stating what tests are required. The results of these will be sent to your consultant and you can contact them regarding management of the tests/ follow up.

You may be asked to fast (no tea, coffee or food) from 9 pm the night before but please remember to drink plenty of water and take any regular medication as normal.

The majority of blood test results take 5 working days or less to be processed but other less common tests may take longer. Please ask at the time how long to expect for your results and if you do not hear us, contact the clinic.
