LARC (Long-acting reversible contraception)

Mirena Coil

This device is inserted into the womb and is active for five years. The Mirena can be inserted or removed in the clinic.  For insertion, please make an appointment with one of the GPs to discuss the procedure and a prescription for the Mirena will be given.  A swab to exclude any infection will also be taken at this appointment.  On the day of insertion, please bring the device with you to the appointment.

Implanon

This device is inserted under the skin of the upper inner arm.  Implanon can be inserted in the clinic and is active for three years.  For insertion, please make an appointment with one of the GPs to discuss the procedure and a prescription for Implanon will be given.
